Environmental Education Curriculum for Kindergarten and Primary School
The Environmental Education Curriculum that we have designed is based on the Environmental Education theory, Palmer's Tree.
The Palmer's Tree theory is divided into three aspects of education and all the curricula include each aspect, but with different emphasis.
The main pedagogical goals of our curricula are to increase children's nature relationship, nature knowledge and nature friendly behavior.
Curriculum for Kindergarten:
3 - 4 years old
The Caterpillars curriculum emphasizes on the education in the nature. This means experiential learning: using senses, spending time in nature and other green environments, playing games, and gaining experiences.
4 - 5 years old
The pupas curriculum emphasizes on education about nature. This means gaining knowledge about nature. Children are learning through games and play, by making small experiments and learning to gain knowledge by themselves.
5 - 6 years old
The Butterflies curriculum emphasizes on education for the nature. This means learning about sustainable way of living and children's own possibilities to influence on nature.
One-year curriculum for each age group is divided into four seasons. Each season has its own theme which covers widely the basic concepts of natural world and sustainability.
