Nature and Environmental Education Institute of Finland (NEEIF) is a leading Finnish institute and a member of Education Finland, dedicated to promoting global nature and environmental education. We develop certified training programs for educators, blending Finnish pedagogical excellence with sustainability goals. Our mission is to empower teachers, families, and communities to foster well-being and environmental responsibility through innovative, research-based learning experiences—both in Finland and internationally.

Role Overview

As CEO of NEEIF, you will champion our mission to dramatically elevate brand recognition and market penetration across Greater China and the broader Far East. You’ll expand our suite of products and services to deliver lasting value and companionship to educators and parents, empowering them—and their communities—as lifelong learners. Simultaneously, you will forge and deepen strategic bridges between China and Finland/Nordic markets, unlocking bilateral collaboration opportunities and shared innovation.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership

  • Define and evolve a five-year vision and growth roadmap focused on maximizing awareness and adoption in China and neighboring markets

  • Architect product and service expansions that deliver continuous, high-value support to educators and parents, driving long-term engagement and lifelong learning

  • Develop and execute a Sino-Nordic partnership strategy, linking Chinese institutions with Finnish and Nordic counterparts to co-create programs, research collaborations, and exchange initiatives

  • Align organizational offerings with cutting-edge trends in Finnish education, nature education, and sustainability

  • Localize pricing, go-to-market models, and compliance strategies to resonate with Chinese regulatory, cultural, and consumer dynamics

• Program & Product Oversight

  • Oversee the design, delivery, and iterative improvement of online courses, workshops, and community initiatives tailored to Chinese educators and families, ensuring they foster sustained learning journeys

  • Guarantee pedagogical excellence, deep learner engagement, and measurable outcomes aligned with Chinese standards and the expectations of lifelong learners

• Market & Partnerships Development

  • Cultivate high-impact relationships with Chinese educational institutions, government agencies, corporate sponsors, parent communities, and leading social media platforms and influencers to drive visibility and trust

  • Negotiate co-branding, joint-venture, and exchange programs with top Chinese nature education institutes, sustainability platforms, parent networks, and Nordic partners

  • Lead the creation of an integrated marketing strategy—encompassing content, social media, PR, and events—that turbocharges NEEIF’s brand awareness and participation rates across the Far East

• Financial & Operational Management

  • Own P&L responsibility: annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

  • Optimize operational processes, technology platforms, and resource allocation for efficiency and scalability

• Team Building & Culture

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing leadership team and staff (remote/hybrid)

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and cross-cultural environment that celebrates diversity and reciprocal learning between East and West, anchoring every interaction in our shared values of curiosity, stewardship, and systems thinking

 

Qualifications

• 15+ years of senior leadership experience in education, business consulting, or mission-driven startups, underpinned by exceptionally solid strategic thinking and the ability to turn vision into clear, data-informed roadmaps

• Demonstrated dual-mode mindset: left-brain analytical rigor (P&L ownership, budgeting, KPI tracking) combined with right-brain creativity (innovative program design, brand storytelling, user experience)

• Proven entrepreneurial track record from 0→1 (launching new ventures or product lines) and scaling operations 1→10 and 10→100 (growing teams, user bases, and revenue streams)

• Deep management experience in both Chinese and European markets, adept at navigating distinct regulatory landscapes, cultural contexts, and stakeholder ecosystems

• Inclusive, coaching-oriented leadership style with extensive experience mentoring and developing high-performing, distributed, and multicultural teams

• Outstanding communicator, comfortable with public speaking, media appearances, and engaging stakeholders across Eastern and Western audiences

• Passion for nature education, sustainability, and regenerative leadership, with a demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and social impact

• proficiency in both Mandarin and English—listening, speaking, reading, writing—and exceptional presentation skills for diverse Eastern and Western audiences.

 

Preferred Skills & Attributes

• Master’s degree or above in Education, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Business Management or a related field

• Proven expertise in designing and executing integrated online and offline learning journeys and instructional experiences

• Extensive network across environmental NGOs, education research institutions, and government agencies in China and Europe, with a track record of forging high-impact strategic alliances
